Guilford Lakes Golf Course Season in Full Swing

The Guilford Lakes Golf Course kicked off its 2018 season by hosting its Red, White, and Blue Tournament on May 26. The competitors played the red, white, and blue tees on a rotational basis for 18 holes. Closest to the pin prizes were awarded on both the third and seventh holes.

Vince Ragonese took the low gross honors with a score of 63, and Greg Putney scored a 53 for low net. Skip Perkins shot a 54 for runner-up low net, while John Sondej posted a 55 for third-place low net honors. Putney won the closest to the pin on hole No. 3, and Ragonese won closest to the pin on the seventh hole by almost holing out his shot and stopping just six inches from the cup.

The next event at the course is the U.S Open Tournament that will be held on Saturday, June 23. Each player will play 18 holes from the blue tees with a limited flight golf ball. The second annual Guilford Amateur will be held in July, followed by the Member-Guest in September. The tournament season will conclude in October with the Octoberfest Fall Classic. Also, the Summer Junior Golf Camps will begin on Tuesday, June 26.

The course also recently had its first hole-in-one of this season when Eve Young made one on the second hole. Young is a student at Guilford High School. The ladies’ league is looking for more participants, and the course is always welcoming new group leagues and charity outings.
