Francois Takes 7th in Long Jump at State Open; Pane Plays in Girls’ Tennis State Open

Girls’ Outdoor Track

Freshman Kisha Francois and senior Summer Onorato competed on behalf of the East Haven girls’ outdoor track team at the State Open Championship at Willow Brook Park on June 4. Francois recorded a seventh-place finish in the long jump to score two points for the Yellowjackets at the meet.

Francois reached a distance of 17 feet-2.75 inches to place seventh in the long jump at the Open. She also ran the 100-meter dash and finished in 19th place with a time of 12.98 seconds. Earlier in the postseason, Francois won the 100 at the SCC West Sectional Championship, and she also took second place in the long jump at the Class M State Championship.

Additionally at the State Open, Onorato came in 24th place in the javelin by posting a throw of 84 feet-1 inch for East Haven.

Girls’ Tennis

Junior captain Jenna Pane hit the court to play in the singles bracket at the State Open Tournament on June 3. Pane, who played No. 1 singles for the Easties this spring, took an 8-5 loss against Amber Perry of New Fairfield in a qualifying-round contest.
