Jolly Leads the Way in Week 4 of Deep River Horseshoe League

Frank Jolly, an A Division player on the Royals, led all players by throwing a score of 138 during Week 4 of Deep River Horseshoe League play. Jolly was followed closely by fellow Division A player, Kris Toohey of the Astros, with a score of 132. The third-highest score of the week also came out of Division A as Bill Strong of the Padres posted a score of 127.

Dennis Allen of the Red Sox stood atop the B Division with his total of 124. Cardinals’ player John Nilson held down second place with a 106, while Bill Brown of the White Sox claimed third at 104.

In the C Division, the Cubs’ Tony Cutone led the way with a score of 113. Gary Beckwith of the Giants took second with 90, and Tigers’ player Gary Stevens was next in line with his 81.

At the end of Week 4, the Astros are in first place in the standings with a record of 19-5. The Marlins (17-7) stand in second, the Pirates (15-9) are in third, the Tigers and Yankees are tied for fourth with their records of 13.5-10.5, and the Cardinals and the Mets are both 13-11 and tied for fifth place. Here is a look at the rest of the standings: Red Sox (12.5-11.5), Orioles (12-12), Cubs (12-12), Reds (12-12), Dodgers (12-12), Angels (10-14), Braves (10-14), Royals (10-14), White Sox (10-14), Indians (9.5-14.5), Giants (9-15), and Padres (5-19).

The Deep River Horseshoe League has 20 teams that feature three players of each of the A, B, and C divisions. The league plays every Thursday night on the First Congregational Green in Deep River and welcomes anyone to come watch its contests. For info, visit deepriverhorseshoes.com.
