Home Sweet Home Meet for Flip-Flop Gymnastics

Flip-Flop Gymnastics recently hosted a home meet in Deep River that saw athletes compete in several levels, including the Xcel categories of Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze, as well as levels 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8.

The Flip-Flop Xcel Platinum team’s two members had strong showings as Katie Schuman of Old Saybrook finished with an all-around score of 35.05 and a solid 9.3 on floor. Katie Zimmer of East Hampton earned a 9.0 on vault and finished with an all-around score of 31.85.

For the Xcel Gold team, Morgan Toth of Chester led the way with a high all-around score of 35.95 on all-around and an impressive 9.35 on floor. Grace Jacaruso from Essex also had a successful meet, scoring a 9.4 on floor and finishing with an all-around score of 35.9. Grace Arnold from Old Lyme earned a 9.05 on floor and scored a 9.0 on vault. Isabella Giuliano from Deep River scored a strong 9.4 on bars and finished with a 35.8 on all-around. Mia Alio of Deep River scored a 9.1 on floor and finished with a solid 34.3. Madison Neviaser from Essex scored an 8.8 on floor and a 33.75 on all-around, while Chase Conrad from Ivoryton earned a 9.05 on floor and an 8.7 on the balance beam. Other impressive scores included Violet Lavezzoli from Deep River earning an 8.55 on floor, Katrina Tozier of East Haddam scoring a 9.05 on floor, and Eileen Russell from Chester landing a solid 9.5 on floor.

The Xcel Silver team had a fantastic meet with Madeline Jacaruso from Essex scoring an impressive 37.35 on all-around with a high mark 9.7 on bars and a 9.6 on floor. Haley Pierson from Westbrook also had a successful meet, scoring a 36.6 on all-around and a 9.5 on bars. Christina Grace from Old Saybrook scored a solid 9.35 on bars and a 9.2 on the balance beam. Katherine Bergman from East Haddam finished with a total of 36.350 on all-around and a high score of 9.250 on the floor. Kelly Walsh of Old Saybrook scored a 9.15 on vault and earned a high score of 9.3 on the balance beam. Sienna Joplin from Chester and Carlee Harwood of Killingworth both scored 9.0 on both the bars and the balance beam. Other highlights included Kaia Karcich from Deep River finishing with an all-around score of 35.2 and a 9.3 on floor, and Charlotte Jacobson from Deep River earning a 35.1 on all-around.

The Xcel Bronze team featured Holly Board from Deep River leading the team with a fantastic all-around score of 37.2, a 9.6 on floor, and a 9.3 on vault. Anna Eichholz from Old Lyme earned a 36.15 on all-around and a 9.2 on both bars and balance beam. Kendra Cika from Ivoryton scored a high total 9.3 on floor and finished with an all-around score of 35.85. Madelin Gutzmer from Old Saybrook landed a strong score of 9.4 on floor and a 9.25 on bars. Also competing was Katelin Hornyak of Killingworth, who scored a 9.2 on beam and finished with an all-around of 35.0. Other highlights included Molly Manco from Ivoryton with an 8.9 on beam, and Sophie Gaudet from Clinton with a solid all-around score of 34.55.

East Haddam’s Mia Lawrence from the Level 8 team competed solo and had a steady meet by finishing the all-around with a 33.725, while scoring a 9.1 on floor and 8.275 on the balance beam.

In addition, the Level 7 team finished with high scores at the meet. Juliana Gagliardi of Killingworth lead the team with an outstanding all-around score of 36.625 and a 9.25 on both vault and floor. Rebecca Rosenblum-Jones from Killingworth also had a great meet, finishing with a 35.275 on all-around and a score of a 9.150 on floor. Another highlight included Annie Berger from Glastonbury earning a 8.850 on vault and a 8.225 on floor.

The Level 6 team also had a solid meet featuring high scores, including Essex resident Ella Stevens with a solid all-around score of 34.575 and an 8.825 on the balance beam. Allyson Veins of Higganum earned an 8.6 on vault and scored an all-around of 33.15. Also competing was Julie Hartt from Deep River, who scored an 8.55 on vault and an 8.15 on floor.

As for the Level 4 team, Ava Moazzotta of Haddam led the way with an impressive all-around score of 34.5 and an 8.8 on the balance beam. Corina Pagliuco from Ivoryton also had a strong performance, scoring an 8.9 on floor and an 8.75 on vault. Other highlights included Corallina Giuliano of Deep River scoring an 8.45 on floor, and Talia Bauer from Old Saybrook scoring an 8.3 on the balance beam.

The Level 3 team had a terrific meet with Hailey Fosque of Westbrook finishing with a high all-around score of 35.00 and 9.25 on the vault. Shea Zundel from Old Saybrook also had a great showing by scoring a 8.9 on floor, 9.1 on beam, and finishing with a 35.35 on all-around. Newcomer Cammille Pagliuco from Ivoryton scored high on bars with a 9.15 and finished with an all-around of 34.95. Emma Tanabe from East Haddam had a strong 34.85 on all-around, as did Meghan Brown from Higganum with the same all-around score of 34.85. Clementine Lavezzoli of Deep River scored an 8.5 on the floor and on vault, and Grace Vincent from Westbrook scored a 9.05 on vault and finished with an all-around of 31.9.
