04/19/2018 12:00 AMFormer Daniel Hand High School field hockey and girls’ lacrosse player Erin Mammele recently set the Fairfield University women’s lacrosse team’s career record with 176 draw controls in a game against Monmouth on April 4. Mammele, a junior, also broke her own single-season record with 88 draw controls versus Marist on April 14. She additionally set the single-game mark with 11 draw controls in a game twice this season. In addition to her spot on the draw, Mammele was also a defensive starter and recognized as an All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) First Team selection last season.
Mammele, a 2015 Hand graduate, was previously a standout for the Tigers’ girls’ lacrosse and field hockey squads, winning Most Outstanding Player Award for the SCC Tournament championship in both sports as a senior.
