Two Swimmers Compete for Valley at Class S Meet

Two Valley Regional freshmen competed on behalf of the Warriors at the at the Class S Boys’ Swimming State Championship that was held on March 14 at the Cornerstone Aquatics Center in West Hartford. Egan Rothrock and Matthew Skowronek combined to score 19 points for Valley Regional to put the Warriors in 31st place.

Rothrock posted an 11th-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.64 to score 16 points at the Class S Championship. The freshman improved upon his time of 1:07.08 from the Class S Qualifying in the event. Also at the championship meet, Rothrock scored two points by placing 23rd in the 200 individual medley at 2:17.44, which bettered his mark of 2:17.87 from the qualifying.

Skowronek finished in 24th place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.85 at the Class S Championship, improving in his 1:10.95 from the qualifying, while picking up a point for Valley Regional.
