The Old Saybrook 8th-grade boys’ basketball club team recently concluded its fifth and final year as a squad by winning the 8th-grade Division title in Killer B Tournament at the M-Plex in Mansfield, Massachusetts on Feb. 24. Old Saybrook’s road to the championship included wins against Massachusetts teams Mansfield and North Attleborough, and then culminated with a victory over Bellingham in the final.

When Old Saybrook’s athletes were in their first season as 4th graders, the team did not win a game in its league. Since that time, the squad has greatly improved by winning a total of 38 games, including its recent tournament championship.

“Our final week of hoops together was the best basketball we have ever played, as it should be,” Old Saybrook Head Coach Mark Brown.
