Prota Presented with Award and Scholarship from Girls’ Soccer Coaches Association

On Jan. 21, Branford High School senior Suzanne Prota was one of six athletes who was presented with the Scholar-Athlete Award and Scholarship at the Connecticut Girls’ Soccer Coaches Association dinner held at the AquaTurf Club in Stonington.

Prota was a varsity defender for four seasons with the Branford girls’ soccer team and Head Coach Jen Kohut. Last fall, Prota helped the Hornets record seven wins, three ties, and a berth in the Class L State Tournament, where the team defeated Law 2-1 for its first victory in states since 2014. Prota earned All-SCC Second Team and All-SCC Hammonasset Division recognition for her performance on the season, along with an invitation to play in the 2017 Connecticut Girls’ Soccer Coaches’ Association Senior Bowl.
