Girls’ Indoor Track

The Westbrook girls’ indoor track team competed at the Shoreline Conference Coaches Invitational at Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven on Jan. 20. The Knights finished in 18th place by scoring 13 points at the meet.

Junior Danyelle Engels placed second in the shot put for Westbrook behind a throw of 34 feet-7.5 inches. Avery Bauman had a top-10 finish in the pole vault by clearing 8 feet, which was good for seventh place. Bauman was also part of a 4x800-meter relay that finished in sixth place with a time of 11:46.33. Halle Barron, Cierra Brundage, and Christine Gallagher joined forces with Bauman for the Knights in that relay.

Boys’ Basketball

The Knights’ boys basketball team played three Shoreline Conference games last week and took three defeats, including an overtime loss against Hale-Ray in a close contest.

On Jan. 15, Westbrook lost at home to Creed by the final score of 55-30. Then on Jan. 18, the Knights hit the road for a game against Hale-Ray and lost 54-48 in overtime. Two days later, Westbrook hosted North Branford and dropped a 51-44 decision.
