Huskies’ Boys’ Basketball Loses Three; Gymnastics Defeats Valley Regional

Boys’ Basketball

The Morgan boys’ basketball team lost three games last week to move to 1-7 on the season.

On Jan. 8, the Huskies were home to face Valley Regional and dropped a 58-42 decision. Sophomore Miles Vogl led Morgan in scoring with 12 points and he also had three assists. Senior Tyler Newfield had 10 points to go along with two assists and a steal. AJ Fritz provided seven points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals for the Huskies

On Jan. 11, Morgan was on the road against Creed and lost 52-40. Junior Garrett Johnson scored six points to go with seven boards, four steals, and three assists. Vogl had seven points, while adding four assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Patrick Marcovics scored six and had a pair of blocks.

Two days later, the Huskies were back home to host Old Saybrook and took a 69-52 loss. Vogl scored 14 points, had three assists, and a block; Newfield added 10 points, three assists, and a steal; and Marcovics scored six, had seven rebounds, and blocked a shot for Morgan.

Gymnastics

The Haddam-Killingworth/Hale-Ray/Morgan gymnastics earned a victory over Valley Regional last week. The Cougars scored 122.75 points to defeat the Warriors (106.3) on Jan. 11.

In the vault event, Ally Veins scored an 8.3, Emma Anderson had an 8.4, Brianna Livingston scored an 8.2, and Haley Smith scored an 8.7. On bars, Veins had an 7.6, Anderson and Livingston each scored a 6.2, and Smith had an 8.1. For the beam, Veins tallied a 7.9, Anderson had a 7.25, Livingston scored a 7.4, and Smith posted a 7.6. For floor, Veins notched a 7.25, Anderson had a score of 7.8, Livingston scored a 7.4, and Smith scored an 8.45.
