North Branford Lights the Lamp in Lopsided Wins; Girls’ Hoops Loses at Cromwell

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The North Branford boys’ ice hockey team won both of its games last week by a wide margin to improve to 5-2 for the year.

On Jan. 11, the T-Birds hosted Milford at Northford Ice Pavilion and earned a 7-1 victory, highlighted by a hat trick courtesy of Sean McKee. Nick Vecchio scored a pair of goals, while Nick Battett and Matt Pedersen added goals for North Branford. Brendan Dupuis recorded four assists in the victory, and John Lovelace made 25 saves in net.

On Jan. 13, North Branford took the ice against Hand and recorded a 7-2 victory at Northford Ice Pavilion. McKee netted his second hat trick in as many games, while Pederson, Vecchio, Dupuis, and Nick Mancini each scored one goal apiece. Lovelace recorded 22 saves in victory.

Girls’ Basketball

The Thunderbirds took a defeat in their only game of the week and now have a record of 5-2 this season. North Branford traveled to Cromwell lost by a 72-46 final against the Panthers on Jan. 9.
