Both Westbrook Basketball Squads Drop a Contest

Boys’ Basketball

The Westbrook boys’ basketball team took a recent a defeat versus North Branford and is now 0-2 on the year.

On Dec. 21, the Knights went up against North Branford on the road and lost to the Thunderbirds by the final score of 69-32. Jake Haeckel hit nine three-pointers for North Branford, which got out to an early lead that it continued adding to throughout the game. Westbrook Head Coach Jeff Beeman said that his team is still searching for its identity early during the early goings of the season.

“North Branford out-worked and out-executed us from the beginning and had an extraordinary shooting night from Jake Haeckel,” said Beeman. “We will continue searching for the formula that will allow this team to be successful.”

Sophomore Seth Caslin led the Knights in scoring with 15 points and also had a team-high four assists. Seniors Vincent Dyer and Jack Hayes both had eight rebounds to lead Westbrook on the glass.

Girls’ Basketball

The Knights’ girls’ basketball squad recently took a loss by forfeit against Oxford. Westbrook’s record sits at 0-3 for the season.
