11/26/2017 11:00 PMThe North Branford football team took a 28-27 home loss against division rival Coginchaug/Hale-Ray in its season finale at Colafati Field on the night before Thanksgiving. The Thunderbirds finished with an overall record of 4-6 and went 3-5 in the Pequot League’s Sassacus Division this year.
North Branford held a 27-22 lead late in the fourth quarter, but gave up the game-winning touchdown to Coginchaug/Hale-Ray (6-4, 5-3) with 1:49 to play. The Blue Devils connected on a 16-yard TD pass on 4th-down-and-13 to take the lead and then stopped the T-Birds on their final drive for the 28-27 victory. Senior quarterback Jeff Jablonski had given North Branford the lead in the third quarter, when he threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to freshman Alex Cintron. Jablonski also tossed a 3-yard TD pass to senior Sydney Franklin in the final seconds of the first half.
