11/17/2017 11:00 PMThe regular season has come to a close and the playoffs have arrived in the Branford Recreation Department Men’s Basketball League. V.F. McNeil finished in first place to earn the No. 1 seed at 7-2, Trap Runner went 5-4 to grab second place, while G & G Earth Materials and Warner Construction both finished 3-6. G & G won the tiebreaker for the No. 3 seed by virtue of winning the season series against Warner, 2-1, sealing it with a 61-56 victory last week.
Dustin Ceccolini scored 23 points, and Andrew Johnson chipped in with 18 points when G & G Earth Materials posted a five-point win over Warner Construction in Week 9 play. Brett Warner (14 points), Ryan Adinolfi (11), and Bill Lee (11) led the way for Warner.
In the other game, Trap Runner notched a 64-61 win over league frontrunner V.F. McNeil. Dylan Palluzzi scored 18 of his 24 points in the second half to lead Trap Runner to the win. Rich Cordiero scored 12 points for Trap Runner. For V.F. McNeil, Jeff Allen and Rob Howard both scored 14 points, while Ed Bethke and Harrison Levy added 10 points apiece.
The semifinal round of the playoffs will take place on Monday, Nov. 20. Trap Runner plays G & G Earth Materials at 7 p.m., and then V.F. McNeil tips off against Warner Construction at 8 p.m. The championship game is on Monday, Nov. 27 at 8 p.m. All games are at Branford High School.
