Old Saybrook’s Leopoldino Makes All-State in 500 Freestyle for Second Straight Year

Old Saybrook junior Morgan Leopoldino earned All-State honors in the 500 freestyle for the second year in a row by placing third in the event at the Class S State Championship at Southern Connecticut State University on Nov. 14.

Leopoldino posted a time of 5:27.46 to finish third in the 500 freestyle at the state meet. She also finished ninth in the 200 freestyle behind a time of 2:05.54.

The Rams were also represented by freshman Helen Day at the Class S Championship. Day took ninth in the 200 individual medley with a 2:21.01 and was 10th for the 100 butterfly by hitting the finish line in 1:05.68.

Between these four performances, Leopoldino and Day combined to score 48 points for Old Saybrook and put the Rams in 21st place.
