H-K Volleyball Loses in Class M Semis; Swimming Competes at Class S Championship

Volleyball

The Haddam-Killingworth volleyball team took on St. Joseph in the semifinals of Class M State Tournament and lost a 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-10) decision against the top-seeded Cadets at Law High School on Nov. 14. The 4th-seeded Cougars finished the year with an impressive record of 21-4 that featured their second straight appearance in the Shoreline Conference Tournament final, which H-K won by defeating Valley Regional 3-1.

Girls’ Swimming and Diving

The H-K girls’ swimming and diving team finished 11th place with 171 points at the Class S State Championship Southern Connecticut State University on Nov. 14.

The 200 freestyle relay of Sarah Cook, Hannah McLeod, Nora Homicki, and Kiera Bragdon finished in sixth place with a time of 1:48.96 for the Cougars. Bragdon came in seventh in the 50 free (26.13) and was 12th for the 100 free (58.90). The 400 freestyle relay of Tara Lamb, McLeod, Homicki, and Bragdon finished 10th (4:11.12); McLeod finished 10th in the 500 free (6:03.91) and 16th for the 200 free (2:12.80); the 200 medley relay of Cook, Nina Lamb, Grace Purcell, and Clara Roby was 16th (2:16.43); and Lamb came in 21st place in the 100 breaststroke at 1:21.72.
