North Branford Field Hockey, Girls’ Soccer Remain Red Hot

Field Hockey

The Thunderbirds’ field hockey squad played one game last week and turned it into a 2-0 victory against Westbrook to remain unbeaten with a record of 11-0-1. The game marked North Branford’s Senior Night as the T-Birds honored their three senior captains: Zelda Galdenzi, Emmy Norton, and Danielle Ramada.

Amy Raucci netted the first goal of the night on a corner from sophomore Ava Galdenzi at the 28:44 mark. Then, just 45 seconds into the second half, Angelina Ramada scored North Branford’s second goal of the game on an assist from Galdenzi. Goalie Jordan Regan recorded her seventh shutout of the year in the victory.

Girls’ Soccer

The Thunderbirds continued their strong play with two more victories last week to improve to 12-1 this year.

On Oct. 12, the T-Birds beat Haddam-Killingworth 4-0. They followed that up with a 2-0 win against East Haven on Oct. 14.

Boys’ Soccer

North Branford played a pair of games last week, taking a loss earning a tie to move to 4-7-2 for the year.

On Oct. 10, North Branford played Cromwell to a 1-1 tie. Three days later, the T-Birds took a 4-0 loss against Haddam-Killingworth.

Volleyball

The Thunderbirds lost three contests last week and are now 4-11 this year.

On Oct. 10, North Branford was defeated by Hale-Ray 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-19). Dana Deluca had five kills, Sofia Cavalier recorded 12 digs with eight assists, and Katy Pedersen had 11 digs.

The next day, Morgan defeated North Branford 3-1 (25, 13, 25-17, 22-25, 25-15). Julia Ricardo finished with three kills, while Deluca had 12 digs.

North Branford’s week ended with a 3-0 (25-1, 26-24, 25-10) loss to Cromwell on Oct. 13.
