10/15/2017 12:00 AMV.F. McNeil defeated Trap Runner 68-62 to stay undefeated, while extending its lead for first place to two games in the Branford Recreation Department Men’s Basketball League last week. V.F. McNeil improved to 4-0, and Trap Runner dropped to 2-2 on the season.
V.F. McNeil squeaked past Trap Runner on the strength of a 17-point performance from league newcomer Blake Gatison. Ed Bethke added 12 points, Rob Howard had 11 points, and Harrison Levy added 10 points for V.F. McNeil. Trap Runner was led by 19 points from Dylan Palluzzi, along with a 10-point effort by Gordon Hill.
In the week’s other game, G & G Earth Materials moved into third place by scoring a 72-61 win against Warner Construction. G & G saw tri-captain Dustin Ceccolini connect on five three-pointers on his way to scoring 27 points in the victory. Fellow captain Mike Nicoletti netted 16 points, and Andrew Johnson had 14 points for G & G, which improved to 1-3. For Warner Construction (0-4), Adam Pahlsson had a big night by scoring 27 points in the defeat. Kurt Warner added 10 points.
