Yellowjackets’ Football Loses to Guilford; Soccer Squads Take Defeats

The East Haven football team hosted Guilford for a SCC Tier 3 matchup on Oct. 6. The Yellowjackets took a 35-0 loss against the Indians to drop to 1-4 overall with a record of 1-2 in Tier 3 play on the season.

Quarterback Tanner Divito completed 11-of-20 passes for 104 yards for East Haven in the defeat to Guilford (3-1, 3-0). Michael Manning, Jr., ran for a team-high 105 yards, Michael Caruso caught three passes for 40 yards, and Michael Castellano had five catches for 39 yards.

Defensively, Ryan Cordova made 24 tackles, Josh Rao recorded two sacks, and Justin Fonacier also had a sack for the Yellowjackets.

East Haven has this week off, after which the Yellowjackets will host Jonathan Law for another SCC Tier 3 matchup on Friday, Oct. 20 with the kickoff slated for 7 p.m.

Girls’ Soccer

East Haven stands at 1-7-2 after losing three matchups this past week.

On Oct. 2, Cheshire defeated the Yellowjackets by a 2-0 final in East Haven. The two teams met up again in Cheshire just two days later, and the Rams prevailed by a 6-0 score. East Haven closed out its week with a 3-2 home loss to Hamden.

Boys’ Soccer

The Yellowjackets’ boys’ soccer squad dropped a pair of contests last week and is now 1-10 for the year.

On Oct. 5, East Haven took a 6-0 loss at Harding in a non-conference game. The next day, the Yellowjackets had a road game against SCC opponent Career-Hillhouse and lost by a 6-0 score.
