Westbrook Girls’ Soccer Sees a Little of Everything; Boys Stand at 3-3

Girls’ Soccer

The Westbrook girls’ soccer team had three contests last week and came away with a win, a loss, and a tie to put its record at 2-3-1 on the season.

On Sept. 19, the Knights were at home to face North Branford and lost 4-1. Erin Metcalfe scored Westbrook’s goal, while Lexi Vumback made 17 saves in net.

The next day, Westbrook welcomed a new opponent in Bassick and trounced the Lions to the tune of a 7-1 final score. Scoring goals for the Knights were Erin Metcalfe, who had two goals with two assists, along with Hayden Davis, Alyssa Esposito, Olivia Fabrizi, Isabele Esposito, and Devin Mulvihill. Vumback and Callie Newburg both made a save in goal.

Then on Sept. 22, the Knights headed to Portland to face the Highlanders, and the two teams played to a 0-0 tie. Vumback made nine saves in this game.

Boys’ Soccer

The Westbrook boys’ soccer squad played three games in last week’s action, winning one and losing two to move to 3-3 for the year.

On Sept. 18, the Knights hosted North Branford and defeated the Thunderbirds 3-0. Westbrook scored its first goal in the opening half and then sealed the victory with two more after intermission.

Two days later, Westbrook was on the road to face Bassick and lost by a 3-2 score.

On Sept. 22, the Knights were at Portland and dropped a 3-0 decision.
