The Old Saybrook-Westbrook football team matched up against Nonnewaug last week and won the game handily by a score of 35-12. The Rams’ record on the season is now 2-0.

Old Saybrook struck first on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Victor Pascoe to Vincent Dyer in the first quarter to grab an early 6-0 lead. In the second quarter, Pascoe scrambled for a 45-yard touchdown. OS-W went for the 2-point conversion with Dyer running it in to extend the lead to 14-0. Later in the second, seniors Pascoe and Dyer reconnected for a touchdown pass for 18 yards, after which sophomore Cooper Pavlovich kicked the extra point through to make it 21-0 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Pascoe broke free for another long run to the end zone, this time from 37 yards away. Pavlovich’s kick was good to make it 28-0. Nonnewaug scored a touchdown later in the third quarter and added another in the fourth to make it 28-12. However, Dyer countered with 40-yard touchdown run for the Rams, who saw Pavlovich convert another extra point for the 34-12 final.

Pascoe had a strong game for OS-W by going 6-for-11 passing for 117 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to a pair of TDs with 181 yards on the ground. Dyer hit 100 yards rushing on the dot to go with two touchdowns on 12 carries, and he also caught four passes for 91 yards and a score. Andrew Naccarato had six carries for 27 yards for the Rams, whose next game will be at home against Granby Memorial at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23.

Old Saybrook played three games to get its season underway last week and won one of them to put its record at 1-2.

On Sept. 11, Old Saybrook hosted Westbrook and lost a close game, 1-0. The Rams came out strong to days later as they defeated Haddam-Killingworth at home by a score of 3-2. Then on Sept. 16, the Rams hit the road to face Waterford and lost 3-0.

The Rams hit the field for two games last week and dropped both contests to move to 1-2 on the season.

On Sept. 12, Old Saybrook welcomed North Branford for a match and lost 1-0. On Sept. 15, the Rams headed to Portland to face the Highlanders took a 2-0 defeat.
