Field Hockey

After beating rival Haddam-Killingworth to start the year, the Thunderbirds’ field hockey squad stayed hot by winning two games on the road last week to improve to 3-0 this season.

On Sept. 11, North Branford took on Stamford and came away with a 3-1 victory. Senior captain Emmy Norton played an aggressive game for North Branford, scoring a goal on an assist from Ava Galdenzi at the 26:41 mark of the contest. After Stamford knotted the game, junior Angelina Ramada took over as she scored the only two goals of the second half to propel the T-Birds to victory. Jordan Regan recorded four saves in goal for North Branford.

North Branford then took on Morgan on Sept. 14 and won 7-2. It was a huge team effort for the T-Birds with many players seeing time on the field. Junior captain Amy Raucci recorded her first career hat trick for North Branford. Senior captain Danielle Ramada opened the scoring with a goal off a corner at the 28:50. Angelina Ramada had a goal and an assist, freshman Sophia Anastasio assisted on a goal, and Galdenzi scored her first career varsity goal on an assist from Melanie Norton. Emmy Norton scored on a breakaway in the second half for North Branford, which saw Regan make nine saves in the win.
