Field Hockey

The North Branford field hockey squad started out the 2017 fall season by facing off against Shoreline Conference rival Haddam-Killingworth last week. H-K came to North Branford on Sept. 8, and the Thunderbirds won the game via a 3-0 shutout to begin the year on a positive note.

Last year, North Branford finished with a record of 13-4-1, while qualifying for both the Shoreline Conference and Class S State tournaments.

Girls’ Soccer

The Thunderbirds’ girls’ soccer team hosted East Haven for a non-conference matchup on Sept. 9 and came away with a 1-0 victory.

The lone tally of the game came via an own goal in the Yellowjackets’ end, resulting in a score for North Branford. Goalie Allie Augur recorded five saves for the shutout for the T-Birds, who reached the Shoreline Conference Tournament final last year on their way to an overall record of 10-4-6.

Volleyball

The North Branford volleyball team traveled to Wilcox Tech on Sept. 8 and dropped a 3-2 decision against its non-conference opponent.

The T-Birds held a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth set against Wilcox, but lost the next two, and took the defeat. The set scores were 25-9, 23-25, 25-15, 15-25, 7-15.

North Branford went 6-14 last year.
