Boys Soccer

The Morgan boys’ soccer squad opened its season at East Hampton on Sept. 8 and soundly defeated the Bellringers by the score of 7-1.

Many Huskies joined the scoring party in the victory, but none more so than Juan Avila, who scored the game’s first goal in the 25th minute of the opening half on his way to recording a hat trick. Tyler Newfield closed the first half with a goal to put the Huskies up 2-0 heading into intermission.

Morgan’s offense exploded for five more goals in the second half. Zach Tuccitto scored goals in the 47th and 50th minutes for the Huskies. Calvin Jackson then kicked one into the net in the 55th minute. Avila followed by scoring two more goals with one coming in the 62nd minute and the other in the 70th minute to complete the hat trick. East Hampton scored the final goal of the game, but never threatened to close the gap.

Andrew Passante, Matt Koziy, and Josh Kennedy all had two assists, while Matt Gardner added one for Head Coach Ross Demay’s squad. Anes Gadun played most of the game in goal, with Ryan Nguyen also seeing some time.
