Girls’ Soccer

The Westbrook girls’ soccer team won its first contest of the 2017 season by soundly defeating Hale-Ray, 8-1, at home on Sept. 9. The Knights scored early and often in the victory and received contributions from many people on their roster.

Senior Erin Metcalfe had a standout performance for Westbrook by recording a hat trick to go with an assist on the day. Hayden Davis added a goal and an assist for Head Coach Rob McConville’s squad. Kelly Donlan, Hannah Martin, Christina Matute, and Devin Mulvihill scored one goal apiece to help the Knights notch their lopsided victory.

Westbrook’s defenders played tough and limited the Noises’ offense. Knights’ goalie Lexi Vumback made one save in the game.

Field Hockey

Fresh off a campaign for the ages that featured 19 victories, a Shoreline Conference championship, and a Class S state title, the Knights’ field hockey team hosted Suffield for their season opener on Sept. 9. In a hard-fought match against a non-conference foe, the Knights played Suffield to a 0-0 tie.
