Old Saybrook Parks and Rec Hosts Dodgeball Redemption Tournament

Old Saybrook Parks and Recreation (OSPR) recently held its annual Dodgeball Redemption Tournament. The one-night, double-elimination tournament took place during OSPR’s Friday night Teen Center hours and was open to all members who are in 6th to 8th grade.

There were eight co-ed teams that competed in the tournament, and each team could have no more than six players. The games lasted either seven minutes long or until one team eliminated all the players on the other team.

Team Black Magic featuring Zach Coty, Gannon Efinger, Kayla Holt, Gabe Kaar, Trey Martin, and Peter Waida was undefeated going into the championship game. Black Magic was matched up against The Women Respecter’s, which consisted of Kyle Colella, Cory Benni, Megan Kapij, Ryan Mikulski, Ryan Kelenhback, and Matt Rothman, and had one loss going into the final game. The two teams battled it out in a full-court finale that decided the championship. In the end, Team Black Magic was crowned the champion of the 2017 Dodgeball Redemption Tournament.

This marked the last tournament of the year for the OSPRTteen Center. The OSPR would like to thank all the players who participated in the tournament. For info on the OSPR, visit www.oldsaybrookrec.com.
