Bill’s Seafood Shells Out Scholarships to Local Athletes

Bills’ Seafood Restaurant of Westbrook recently announced the Bill’s Seafood Scholar-Athlete Scholarship Award winners for 2017. The recipients of the scholarships were Matthew Capece of Clinton, Old Saybrook’s Joshua Chang, Zoe Ehlert from Westbrook, Ivoryton resident Maleena Frazier, Kathyrn Hanley of Old Saybrook, Chester’s Hunter LaPlace, Westbrook’s Kevin Morrissey, Clinton resident Hannah Scarpace, and Margaret Smith from Old Saybrook.

The proceeds of Bill’s Seafood Golf Tournament and are annually awarded to student-athlete graduates of area high schools. The recipients are male and female students who have demonstrated positive character, leadership, and good citizenship qualities during their years in high school. They also participated in their school sports programs and plan to further their education at a four-year college, junior college, business, or vocational school. The recipients collectively received a total of $18,000 from the tournament proceeds.
