Shoreline Golf Society Introduces Senior, Women’s Tourneys


The Shoreline Golf Society (SGS) held its inaugural Senior Championship and Women’s Championship at Shennecossett Golf Course. The Shoreline Golf Society (SGS) recently hosted two new championship tournaments that were introduced for the 2017 season. The Senior Championship was open to all SGS members aged 60 years and older, and the Women’s Championship was open to all female members. Both tournaments were held at Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton.

In the Senior Championship, Rafael Martinez of Cromwell came in first place with a score of 82. Westbrook’s Mike Dore and Gunnar Blomgren of Madison tied for second at 86, with Dore getting the runner-up slot by a match of cards.

At the Women’s Championship, Branford resident Christa Hammarstrom took first place with an 81, while Linda Dore from Westbrook finished second with a score of 84.

Additionally, general membership from the SGS competed in a net play tournament. Clinton resident Dave Russo won with impressive totals of a 79 gross and a 66 net.
