The Branford Prep American Legion baseball team wrapped up the 2017 summer season by splitting a pair matchups against Zone B opponent Wallingford last week. Post 83 notched a record of 9-8 in its Zone B contests to finish in fifth place in the zone this year. Branford totaled an overall record of 9-10-1 overall on the campaign.

On July 18, Branford visited Wallingford and dropped a 5-4 decision. The following day, Branford hosted Wallingford and came away with an 8-6 victory. Daniel Farricielli, Jr., pitched 4.2 innings for Post 83, Jake Bodner threw 1.2 innings, Nicholas Soliwoda threw two-thirds of an inning, and Maximus Liebel pitched one-third of an inning for Post 83. Wallingford scored a run in the top of the first inning, but Branford came back with two runs in the bottom half, and then plated four runs in the second to go up 6-1. Wallingford scored twice in the third inning and then Post 83 got those two runs back by pushing across a pair in the fourth to make it 8-3. Wallingford rallied for three runs in the seventh inning, but couldn’t complete the comeback, as Branford held on for the win.
