Madison Senior Legion Picks Up a Few Victories

The Madison Senior Legion baseball team picked up five recent victories to improve its mark to 11-14 and move into fifth place in the Zone 3 standings.

Post 79 swept a doubleheader against East Haddam on July 2 by winning 10-0 and 4-3. Chris Hartmann pitched five innings in the shutout, after which Ian Tolis (5 innings) Christian Bray (1.1), and Logan Mantzaris (0.2 innings) shared the pitching duties in the second victory.

Madison then bested Wallingford by a 7-4 final on July 3, followed by a 5-1 victory versus Wallingford on July 5. After that, Post 79 took defeats by the final scores of 2-1 and 5-4 against Middletown in a doubleheader on July 8.

In the previous week’s action, Madison took a 7-1 loss to Cheshire on June 29 and then blanked Prospect-Beacon Falls 3-0 the next day. Graeme McGivern earned the win on the mound for Madison against Prospect-Beacon Falls.
