Recent North Haven High School graduates Maria Scarano and Emily Shea were selected as the recipients of the 2017 North Haven Soccer Club (NHSC) scholarships. Every year, the NHSC awards a $500 scholarship to two graduating high school seniors who are members of the club. The annual scholarships are awarded to candidates based on participation and service to the club, their scholastic record, and an essay describing what soccer means to them.

Scarano will be attending Sacred Heart University in the fall with plans to major in elementary education. She has been an NHSC player and member since 2006, as well as a coach and referee for the club for several years. Shea will be attending the University of Connecticut, where she plans to pursue a degree in engineering. Shea was an NHSC player, coach, and soccer camp counselor. Scarano and Shea were also co-captains of the North Haven High School girls’ soccer team and both graduated in the top 10 of their class.

The NHSC congratulations Scarano and Shea for being this year’s scholarships recipients. The club thanks both of them for their years of involvement with the club and wishes them well as they begin their college careers in the fall.
