Branford remained in second place in Zone 2 by splitting two recent matchups to stand at 5-2-1 in divisional action.
On June 26, Post 83 defeated West Haven 6-3 behind a strong combined pitching effort from Henry Watson and Justin Botte. Watson allowed a run on four hits with five strikeouts, and then Botte allowed two unearned runs on one hit in his three innings of work. At the dish, Colin Baxter had a hit and an RBI, Botte had two hits and two walks with two RBI and a run scored, and Watson walked twice and scored two runs for Branford.
Three days later, Post 83 took a 9-1 loss to Zone 2 front-runner Stratford. Anthony Burzyinski had two hits and a run scored for Branford.
Prep Legion Baseball
The Branford Prep Legion baseball team hosted Zone B opponent Naugatuck on June 26 and won big by the final score of 14-0. With the shutout, Post 83 improved its zone record to 4-2 on the season. Branford owns an overall record of 4-4-1 for the year.
