North Haven Boys’ Tennis Presents Postseason Awards

The North Haven boys’ tennis team recently handed out some awards to commemorate a great 2017 season that saw the Indians post a record of 10-7 and qualify for the Class L State Championship for the fourth straight season.

Senior Johannes Eisenberg, who played both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, was selected as North Haven’s Most Valuable Player. Eisenberg and fellow senior captain Jack Steinman advanced to the third round of the doubles tournament in the Class L State Championship. Sophomore Nick Cristante played No. 1 and 2 singles for the Indians this year. Cristante, who recorded one victory at states, was named the Indians’ Most Improved Player. Senior captain Billy Sgro, who saw time at the No. 3 and 4 singles positions, received North Haven’s Sportsmanship Award. On top of all this, Indians’ Head Coach Don Hurley was selected as the Southern Connecticut Conference’s Coach of the Year.
