Montgomery and Fryar to Represent United States at World Tap Dance Championships

Juliana Montgomery (age 10) and Karissa Fryar (14)of Guilford were recently selected by the United States committee to represent the U.S. as members of the national tap team at the World Tap Dance Championships in Riesa, Germany this November. Montgomery and Fryar will join dancers from Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey at the World Championships.

Montgomery will compete in the Children’s Division in the duo, trio, group, and formation categories. Fryar will compete in the Junior Division in solo, duo, and group, as well as in the Adult Division for trio and formation categories. In addition to their regular weekly training, Montgomery and Fryar began doing extra rehearsing in January to prepare to qualify for the World Championships. Both athletes train and compete at The Dancer’s Studio in Northford under the direction of Sharon DiCrosta and tap teacher Sheri Bonanno.
