Naclerio Competes for Hand at CIAC Heptathlon


Members of the Hand girls’ outdoor track team competed at the CIAC Heptathlon and Steeplechase last week, while three athletes from the boys’ squad represented the Tigers in the steeplechase. These events were held at Willow Brook Park in New Britain on June 13 and 14.

In the girls’ heptathlon, Erin Naclerio came in 51st place by scoring 1,434 points. Naclerio finished 39th in the 100 hurdles with a time of 19.40 seconds, placed 43rd in the shot put behind a throw of 22 feet-3.75 inches, came in 45th place for the high jump at 4-0.5, and finished 49th in the 200 by running a 30.94. Teammate Grace Rogers also qualified for the heptathlon for Hand.

In the 2,000-meter Steeplechase, Emily Connelly came in 46th place (9:21.07) for the Tigers and was followed by Jade Law (49th, 9:25.26) and Rachel Parthasarthy (51st, 9:29.78).

For the boys’ side, Jamie Calderon finished tied for fifth in the 2,000-Meter Steeplechase with a time of 7:05.91. Corey Duncanson placed 37th (8:12.03), and Cale Gabrynowicz came in 40th place (8:17.68) for the Tigers.
