Morgan Baseball Loses 1-0 Pitcher’s Duel in State Semis; Golf Squad Competes at Division IV Championship

Baseball

The Morgan baseball team played in the Class S State Tournament semifinals last week and dropped a 1-0 contest against No. 2 seed Lyman Memorial on June 6. The 6th-seeded Huskies finished their year with an impressive record of 19-7.

John Urban was on the mound for Morgan and pitched a complete game in the loss. Sophomore Andrew Fritz had two hits for the Huskies, as did senior Cooper Thompson.

Golf

The Morgan golf squad competed at the Division IV State Golf Championship at Crestbrook Park in Watertown on June 5. The Huskies finished in 15th place with a team score of 383.Burton Caldwell shot an 18-hole score of 88 for the par-71 course. Additionally for Morgan, Jack Bugg shot a 92, Olivia Powers scored a 96, Ryan powers had a 107, and Ethan Tessman turned in a score of 108.

Girls’ Outdoor Track

The Huskies’ girls’ outdoor track team had several athletes qualify to compete at the State Open Championship on June 5.

Junior Kate Daley earned 10th place in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:24.33. She also competed as part of the 4x800 relay team that placed 17th with a time of 10:07.34. The relay team additionally included sophomore Isabella Raunado, freshman Maura Kelly, and junior Allison Gardner. In the 100-meter hurdles, senior Alyssa Robinson came in 20th place with her time of 17.21.
