The North Haven baseball team was on the road for three matchups last week and won all three games to improve to 4-2.

North Haven opened its road trip by posting a 9-4 victory in Cheshire on April 10. The game was tied 4-4 before North Haven scored two runs in the sixth inning and three in the seventh. Brendan Clark earned the win in relief by hurling four scoreless frames. Kevin Lucey had a big day at the plate by going 3-for-4, including a two-run homer, with three RBI and a stolen base. Clark helped his cause by hitting a single and a double to go with two walks, two RBI, and three runs scored. Chris Stevens had two hits and scored two runs, Steven Erbe had a triple with three RBI, while Peyton Farina, Dominic Onofrio, and Matthew Solomon each hit a double.

Two days later, North Haven played at Sheehan and won 2-0. The Indians scored the game’s only runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles from Clark and Erbe. Farina doubled and scored a run, Craig Somma scored the other run, and Vinnie Anastasio doubled. Luca Lawrence scattered six hits in 4.1 scoreless innings of relief work, after which Clark allowed nothing through his 2.1 innings to get another win.

The Indians capped their week at Law the following afternoon and blanked the opposition 9-0. Preston Young had a dominant start by allowing no runs on five hits and three walks through five innings. Griffin Bottomley threw two scoreless innings to close it out for North Haven, which scored three in the third, three in the fifth, one in the sixth, and two in the seventh. Anastasio and Erbe both hit homers to lead the Indians’ 13-hit attack. Erbe went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI, while Anastasio was 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI. North Haven swiped seven total bases in the win.

Head Coach Bob DeMayo discussed how things have unfolded for his club during the first two weeks of the season.

"Well, any time you start off 1-2, you're kind of wondering, and everyone is behind the 8-ball as far as practice, but right now, the kids are feeling pretty confident; hopefully, not overconfident," DeMayo said. "Now, we go into our league situation with East Haven and Branford, and those are going to be key games as to whether we can win the division championship and get in the league playoffs."
