Morgan’s Lacrosse Squads Lose to Old Lyme in Season Openers


Boys’ Lacrosse

The Morgan boys’ lacrosse team took a 5-4 home loss to Shoreline Conference rival Old Lyme in their season opener last week. The game took place the Indian River Complex in Clinton on April 1.

The Huskies are coming off a 2016 campaign in which they went 9-7 for the regular season and then defeated North Branford in the Shoreline Conference Tournament semifinals. Morgan lost to Old Lyme in the Shoreline final and took a defeat against Suffield in Class S State Tournament qualifying round to finish at 10-9 overall. Once again, the Huskies’ head coach is Andrew Wyrnn.

Girls’ Lacrosse

The Huskies’ girls’ lacrosse squad began the 2017 season with a road game against Old Lyme that took place at East Lyme High School on April 1. Morgan lost by a 14-2 final versus the Wildcats.

Last year, Morgan was 8-8 for the regular season, lost to Old Lyme in the Shoreline Conference Tournament semifinals, and then defeated St. Bernard in the qualifying round of the Class S State Tournament. The Huskies finished at 9-10 after losing to Somers in the first round. Jim Naccarato is back for his second year as the team’s head coach.
