03/31/2017 12:00 AMA retirement dinner honoring longtime Branford High School boys’ basketball Head Coach Jake Palluzzi will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at Woodwinds Restaurant at 28 Schoolground Road in Branford. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the Branford Recreation Department at 46 Church Street or by calling Paul Criscuolo at 203-488-7571. Checks should be made payable to the Branford Boys’ Basketball Fund.
Palluzzi, who is Branford’s co-Athletic Director, was the Hornets’ head coach for 29 years before stepping down at the conclusion of the recent season. Palluzzi recorded his 300th win during the campaign and finished his Branford tenure with 302 wins. He also coached at North Branford for four seasons and has 347 total victories in his basketball head coaching career. Palluzzi, who was a standout player for the Hornets and Southern Connecticut State University, has also coached the boys’ tennis team, plus the boys’ and girls’ cross country squads at Branford.
