Guilford Senior Bocce League Holds Banquet

The Guilford Senior Bocce League (GSBL) recently held its annual banquet. A delicious meal was prepared by Larry Santamaria and his team, and music was provided by the Rich Moran Trio. It was a fun evening with dancing, door prizes, and a grab bag. Also, reward certificates for perfect attendance for the spring and fall seasons were given to Bea Oberle, Harold Phelan, and Marylou Spencer. A trophy and gift certificate for a free meal at the Guilford Community Center was presented to the winning team of Harold Phelan, Lois Phelan, Bob Smith, and Peggy Carter Schmeizl. Recognition was also given to one of the team’s oldest players, Mike Laurie, age 95, who plays every game. Friendship was the theme of the evening and everyone is already looking forward to the spring bocce games that are starting on Tuesday, April 18.

The GSBL, which is a part of the Guilford Parks & Recreation Department, has been a league for more than 16 years. Anyone who is interested in joining the league or would like to be a substitute can contact the Rec Department at 203-453-8068. The registration fee is $10 for both the spring and fall season and includes the banquet at the end of the fall season.
