Girls' Basketball

The Westbrook girls' basketball squad won its opening game in the Class S State Tournament before losing to Weaver in the second round last week. The Knights finished their season with an overall record of 16-8.

As the No. 10 seed, Westbrook opened states by hosting the Sport & Medical Sciences Academy on Feb. 27 for a first round matchup and came away with a 53-51 victory against the No. 23 seed.

On March 2, the Knights hosted 26th-seeded Weaver in the second round and dropped a 68-56 decision. Weaver came out strong to take a 17-10 lead into the second quarter, after which the Beavers increased their lead to 40-22 at halftime. The Knights outscored Weaver 34-28 in the second half, but the deficit proved too much to overcome for Head Coach Kelly Landino's squad.

Sophomore guard Savannah Marshall led all scorers with 27 points, while senior captain guard Zoe Elhert added 12 points on four three-pointers. Sophomore forward Kelly Donlan scored eight points for Westbrook.

Cheerleading

The Knights' cheerleading team participated in the Class S State Championship, which was held at Floyd Little Athletic Center on March 3. Westbrook finished in 14th place at the meet by recording a total score of 96.50 points.
