The Westbrook girls’ basketball squad lost a 54-43 contest at East Hampton in the semifinals of the Shoreline Conference Tournament at Coginchaug on Feb. 22. The Knights were led by Savannah Marshall’s 18 points, plus 11 points from Zoe Ehlert.

“It was one of those nights that we just couldn’t pull ahead and, against East Hampton, you have to be ahead to control the tempo of that game,” said Head Coach Kelly Landino. “We had an off shooting night and they were on. We couldn’t get anything working for us late in the game and they extended their lead.”

Prior to the game, it was announced that Knights’ sophomore guard Savannah Marshall earned All-Shoreline First Team honors, while senior captain forward Adara Bochanis received Honorable Mention.

The Knights (15-8) are competing in the Class S State Tournament as the No. 10 seed this week and will host the 23rd-seeded Sport and Medical Sciences Academy at 7 p.m. on Monday. Feb. 27. If the Knights win, they’ll either play at No. 7 Lyman Memorial or host No. 26 Weaver for a second round duel at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 2.

“We are poised and ready for our third season: regular, Shoreline, and now states,” Coach Landino said.
