HK Boys’ Hoops Inches Closer to States; Hockey Squad Rallies for a ‘W’

Boys’ Basketball

The Haddam-Killingworth boys’ basketball team split a pair of contests last week and is now two wins why of making the State Tournament with a record of 6-2. On Jan. 10, the Cougars posted a 74-61 victory versus Old Lyme. Three days later, HK took an 86-65 loss to Valley Regional.

Girls’ Basketball

The Cougars lost to Old Lyme by a 60-28 final on Jan. 10. HK now has a record of 2-6 on the season.

Ice Hockey

Lyman Hall/HK/Coginchaug defeated Brookfield-Bethel-Danbury 6-3 on Jan. 11 to improve to 2-3 this year.

The Trojans trailed 2-0 before Kyle Roberts got them on the board with two minutes left in the first. Scott Bradley then tied the contest at 2-2 by netting a goal late in the second. Then in the third period, the Trojans pulled away behind goals from Matt Pettit, Connor Satton, Roberts, and Bradley. Finley VanHouten made 14 saves in net for Lyman Hall-HK-Coginchaug.

Boys’ Swimming and Diving

HK had a meet against Sheehan on Jan. 10. The Cougars took a 90-80 defeat against the Titans.
