01/11/2017 11:00 PMThe Shoreline Golf Society (SGS) recently held its annual meeting and awards night at Christy’s in Madison to conclude its 18th season. Following a brief business meeting, trophies were presented to the major championship winners for 2016.
Six major champions were recognized by the SGS. They are President’s Cup champion Donna Moss from Hamden, gross club champion Matt Fleming (Northford), net club champion Joe Mascola, (New Haven), Founder’s Cup champion Mike Rowan (North Branford), match play champion Billy Fitzgerald (Clinton), and four ball champions Cullen Mezerewski (Hamden) and Fleming (Northford). Also recognized was the Most Improved Player Gerry Mann (Branford), who brought his handicap down to an impressive 7.7; as well as Higganum’s Peter Renwick, who was named the Outstanding Member of the Year. The SGS also honored and gave thanks to Roland Ferrera, who is stepping down as president following an eight-year tenure.
