Boys’ Ice Hockey

The East Haven boys’ ice hockey squad advanced its record to 5-0 to begin the season by recording a 4-1 win at Cheshire on Jan. 2 and a 2-1 triumph over Glastonbury on Jan. 4.

The Cheshire matchup took place at Wesleyan University and was the first road contest of the season for the Easties, who came out firing with two quick goals. Jake Aloi netted the first one on assists from Joe Aloi and Nick Capone and then Mike Dogolo made it 2-0 shortly thereafter. After Cheshire cut the deficit in half, Matt Latella converted on the power play to make it 3-1 and the Easties later scored an insurance marker later to seal it.

Against Glastonbury, Capone’s state-leading ninth goal of the season put East Haven up 1-0 early. His 22 points (9 goals and 13 assists) also lead the state thus far this year. Glastonbury scored to knot the score at 1, but Zach Paquin responded by netting the game-winner for East Haven. Logan Hamilton made 24 stops in net to preserve the victory.

Girls' Ice Hockey

Branford-East Haven-North Branford (Bfd-EH-NB) went 1-1 in a pair of games against Conard-Hall (C-H) last week. On Jan. 2, Bfd-EH-NB rallied for a 6-5 victory at Veteran's Memorial Rink. The Easties converted eight three-pointers as a team and Guarino led the charge offensively with 18 points.
