Both Westbrook Hoops Teams Split First Two Games

Boys’ Basketball

The Knights’ boys’ basketball team lost its first game of the season in a close contest against North Branford by the final of 56-53.

Liam Bell and Cory Muckle both scored 17 points to lead the Knights, who are 1-1 to start the season.

Girls’ Basketball

The Westbrook girls’ basketball squad earned its first victory of the season by posting a 57-52 victory over North Branford on Dec. 22. The win put Westbrook’s record at 1-1 on the year.

Westbrook and North Branford were knotted at 51 going into the extra five-minute session and the Knights outscored the T-Birds 6-1 in OT to get the victory. Savannah Marshall scored a game-high 26 points, which included nine made baskets from the floor. Adara Bochanis added 10 points and Kelly Donlan scored nine for the Knights, who scored 18 points in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime.
