2016 Shoreline Cougars Baseball Year in Review

The Shoreline Cougars 18-U AAU baseball Team began its inaugural season in the East Shore Travel League this summer. Led by Head Coach Dennis Annicelli, the squad featured athletes from Chester, Deep River, Essex, Killingworth, and Old Saybrook.

The Cougars won nine games in a row at one point during the regular season en route to a record of 17-7-1, which was good for third place in their division. Then in the East Shore Travel League Playoffs, Shoreline defeated the Connecticut Edge 7-6 before being eliminated by the New England Knights with an 8-5 defeat in the semifinals for a final mark of 18-8-1. Against the Edge, Arik Sypher doubled home Owen Marica in the bottom of the seventh inning for the walk-off win.

The Cougars’ roster also featured Nash Eppard, Luke Bauer, Justin Popp, Tyler Popp, Trevor Mann, Pat O’Leary, Curtis Fetteroll, Kyle Aitken, Gavin Figurelli, Scott Masse, Ross Meglin, Patrick Trapasso, Michael Martorelli, Jon Grasso, and Evan Makowicki.
