2016 Madison American Legion Baseball Year in Review

The baseball scene really heated up in Madison this summer. The Post 79 Junior American Legion baseball team made a nice State Tournament run, while the Senior squad came up just short of reaching the postseason.

Junior Legion

Skipper Matt Sommo and he Post 79 Junior Legion baseball team went 13-11 in Zone 3 play to finish in fourth place this year.

After that, Madison played its way into the round-of-8 in the State Tournament before taking a 3-0 loss to eventual finalist Stamford.

Senior Legion

Head Coach Jeff Buck and Madison were a whisker shy of making the State Tournament as Post 79 finished with a record of 11-13 in Zone 3 to place fifth and come up one spot from making it. Overall, Madison concluded the summer with an overall record of 12-14-1.
