Old Saybrook Boys’ Hoops Wins First Game with New Coach; Girls Start 2-1

Boys’ Basketball

The Old Saybrook boys’ basketball team opened the winter season by netting a 69-60 home victory over Shoreline Conference foe Old Lyme on Dec. 17. The Rams have a new head coach this season in Patrick Quinn, who takes over for Tim Arsenault.

Girls’ Basketball

The Rams’ girls’ basketball squad tipped off its campaign against rival Westbrook on Dec. 13 and came away with a 46-30 victory. Old Saybrook’s defense was outstanding in the game and never allowed more than 10 points in any quarter. Mandy Beck led all scorers with 16 points, while Marissa Newell added 12 in the win.

On Dec. 15, Old Saybrook topped Creed 56-36. Two days later, the Rams lost to Old Lyme 45-33 to start the season at 2-1.
