Branford Boys’ Hockey Begins New Era; Girls Skate to Scoreless Tie

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The Branford boys’ ice hockey team played its first game with new Head Coach James DiNapoli when the Hornets faced off against Staples-Weston-Shelton last week, Branford took a 4-3 defeat in the game, which was played at Milford Ice Pavilion on Dec. 17. DiNapoli, a former Hornets’ assistant coach, takes the reins from Adolph Brink following Brink’s eight-year tenure behind the bench.

Girls’ Ice Hockey

The Branford-East Haven-North Branford girls’ ice hockey squad began its year by playing two games last week and came away with one loss and a tie. On Dec. 14, the Hornets opened the season by taking a 5-0 loss at Simsbury at the International Skating Center of Connecticut. Three days later, the Hornets hosted East Catholic-Glastonbury-South Windsor at DiLungo Rink in East Haven and the two squads skated to a 0-0 stalemate. Once again, the team’s co-head coaches are Jack Norton and Lauren Wiggins.

Wrestling

Branford opened its season by facing East Haven last week. The Hornets took a 42-22 defeat on the road against the Yellowjackets on Dec. 15.
